Architect Fahad Hariri Finds Tranquility and Inspiration in Ibiza Cliffside Villa
Architect Fahad Hariri, founder of interiors firm Pinto, embarked on a decade-long search for the perfect vacation home, ultimately discovering a stunning eight-bedroom villa on the cliffs overlooking Cala Porroig in Ibiza. His journey began fourteen years ago with a desire to escape the hustle of Parisian life and find a natural, family-friendly retreat.
A Mediterranean Escape
Ibiza, known for its vibrant nightlife and party scene, proved to be more than just a destination for Hariri. “Ibiza is multidimensional,” he explains. “There’s a culture of hippies here, there’s nightlife, there’s the sea, but it also has a family vacation vibe.” He initially explored locations like Saint-Tropez and Sardinia, seeking a place that offered both tranquility and connection to a thriving artistic community.
The Villa’s Unique Design
The villa itself is a remarkable blend of modern luxury and rustic charm. Organized like a small village, it features tranquil courtyards, whitewashed structures, local stone, and wood-beamed ceilings. All eight bedrooms boast breathtaking ocean views, extending to the neighboring island of Formentera. Hariri was particularly drawn to the villa’s intelligent design, prioritizing diverse views and creating intimate indoor and outdoor spaces. “Regardless of whether I come with several people or on my own, I don’t feel like I’m in this big house,” he notes.
A Personal Connection
“I liked the idea of having a home that seemed like it’s always been there and not just a white box on the sea,” Hariri adds. “This place felt like it was carved out of stone.” The villa’s stone facade, carved directly into the cliffside, further emphasizes its organic integration with the landscape. Hariri’s interior design choices reflect this connection, incorporating pieces like a six-legged African plaster table by John Dickinson, paintings by Mona Trad, and ceramic tulipieres by Polspotten.
Culinary Delights Nearby
Hariri’s location also offered convenient access to his favorite local restaurants, Es Xarcu and Es Torrent, and the island’s capital city. He sought a balance between seclusion and social connection, a desire that the villa perfectly fulfills.
